Manchester City Use Blek’s Frequent Face Liverpool Face
Manchester City will play against Liverpool on Saturday (9/9/2017) without reinforced defender and captain Vincent Kompany. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola prepares Eliaquim Mangala to stem the flow of the Reds’ attack into the heart of City’s defense.
“He is here because he wants to play and have a great attitude to play,” said Guardiola as reported by Soccerway.
Kompany was forced to miss this match due to injury while defending Belgium in World Cup qualifying match Zone Europe, middle of last week. In fact, Kompany itself has just recovered from a recurrent muscle injury.
Guardiola said, although often blunders, he believed in the quality of Mangala. The former Barcelona coach will also help the French defender fix his shortcomings.
Mangala brought Manchester City from FC Porto in August 2014. Initially the performance of 26-year-old defender is impressive.
Unfortunately, Mangala often make blunders in some important matches. As a result, he was loaned to Valencia last season.
“We will help him a little bit for him to grow, I know the quality, he’s a formidable defender,” Guardiola said.
“I spoke with Mangala towards the end of the transfer window and I said he was part of this team and he had to gain my confidence,” said Guardiola.
